Bourbon Pear


Bourbon Pear. Pretty good after a long long walk with nowhere to go and nothing to do.

Ingredients

2 oz bourbon
2 oz pear juice
1/4 oz Frangelico
1/4 oz nutmeg syrup 

Fresh grated nutmeg to garnish


Bought the syrup at a drugstore in Malaysia while looking for hand sanitizer. The proprietor wanted to make sure I knew not to drink it straight up. “Drink it with water,” he says. “Bourbon would be better” I was thinking, and I was right.  You could make your own. ( 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, 2 whole nutmegs, smashed with a hammer. Simmer for 30 minutes until thick, then strain and store in fridge. You could probably add 1 tbsp ground nutmeg instead of the whole nutmeg-and strain through a coffee filter.)

Mix it all up in a cocktail shaker with ice, pour over fresh ice, garnish and serve.  Goes well with cheese!
