Ingredients

2 oz gin- some brands make better martinis than others. We prefer Hendricks. 
1 capful vermouth
3 olives

Add liquor to shaker with ice and stir until shaker is frosty. Strain into chilled cocktail glass and serve with olives on cocktail pick.  Note that for luck, martini olives must always be served in odd numbers.
